Understanding Pre-Authorization Holds for QR Charging

Why do I have a pre-authorization hold from EverCharge?

When you start a QR charging session, our payment processor (Stripe) places a temporary pre-authorization hold on your payment method. This is not an actual fee—it is a standard security deposit to ensure sufficient funds are available.

How the hold amount is calculated:

The authorization amount equals 100 times the station's per-kWh rate.

Example: If the station rate is $0.20 / kWh, you will see a pending authorization hold of $20.00 on your statement.

What happens next:

  • This hold is temporary and funds have not been withdrawn from your account.

  • Once your charging session completes, you are billed only for the actual energy consumed.

  • The pending hold will automatically drop off your account statement within 10 business days.

If a pending charge remains on your bank statement after 10 business days., please reach out to EverCharge Support for assistance.
